The Beth Naylor Historic Clothing Collection opens a window to the past and into the lives of the people who lived there. It is a history that visitors will be able to relate to on a personal level - brought to life through authentic period clothing and accessories.
Miss Naylor began collecting clothing in the late 1930s when she was given a black dress by Mrs. John McMillan the wife of a local bag-pipe player. Since then the collection has grown to some 600 pieces; 30 of these date from the 1800s, all lovingly restored by Beth Naylor herself.
We are fortunate to have such a marvelous collection available to present to the public on occasion, for more information please call Marcia at 204-773-4792.
The collection has been moved and is presently being sorted and catalogued. We have chosen pieces of the Beth Naylor Collection for display throughout Asessippi Parkland.
Presently there are displays at Travel Manitoba Centre in Russell, Binscarth Museum, Inglis Elevators and RM of Silver Creek in Angusville. Displays will be changed regularly to keep the displays interesting and preserve the pieces. We are planning more displays in the future and will update you as they happen. |
