Agriculture in the Asessippi Parkland
When the Asessippi Parkland was first settled in the late 1800s it quickly gained a reputation for producing abundant,
quality crops; a reputation that remains to this day.
The combination of rich black chernozem soils, abundant moisture, long sunny, warm days and cool moist nights produce some of the best wheat, oats, barley, flax, canola and forage crops in the world.
The diversity of the region’s agriculture is also demonstrated through its ability to produce superior lines of livestock specifically in the cattle, bison and horse industries. The area is home to a diverse group of accomplished breeders who have claimed many championship accolades, at local and national levels. |
